tentang Azlan MAM

harap abg lan tak kesah saya up soalan2 ni kat blog utk rujukan saya sendiri di masa depan

Q:semasa proses pembikinan, masa shoot, adakah ianya di plan,di sketch then cari subject and shoot or shoot then think about the content?or shoot for stock photos, then akan di guna ikut kesesuaian semasa proses membuat output akhir?

manlah tahu in future kita nak buat series about sesuatu isu .

Q:dan bagaimana pendapat abg lan tentang composition dan penggunaannya dlm karya2 abg.

A:composition sangat penting terutama dalam genre conceptualism and fine art photo . abg masih tertakluk pada Rule asas dan ada ketikanya abg against the normal rule untuk beri impact . esp untuk frame yang gothic and dark .

abg cuma simple photographer , cuma abg tahu apa yg perlu ada dalam sesuatu pic untuk dpt lebih penghayatan . you can do it as well . //;-)

Q:Berapa saiz paling besar setiap artwork2 melalui proses restoration and mix media tu ek?maaf saya belum berpeluang melihat karya2 hardcopy di pameran2..insyaAllah satu hari nanti [:)] [:)]

A:Biasa nya abg buat small scale , abg mmg miniature format punya budak . saiz 6x6 inch atau 8x8 inch . tak besar pun .

Q:dan satu lagi, apakah aspek yg paling penting yg abg utamakan dlm suatu imej..adakah tonal range, emotion, composition, kekemasan etc

A:yg paling penting sekali adalah content : maknanya semua character yg asas seperti light.compo ,subject . surroundings . focusing mesti kena betul . ini yg ramai tersasar . ramai yg inginkan gambar yg detail . good resolution tapi content kurang . dalam ertikata lain , cerita dalam gambar tersebut .

Photography vs. Image-making

Interesting reading..from the note by Reza Mell

Roger Overall has written an articled titled Photography vs. Image-making. He talks about heavily manipulated images and asks the following questions:

What exactly is a photograph these days[*]? Should we make a distinction between photography and image-making? If so, where exactly do we place the divide?

The first step to answering those questions is to look at the two fundamental categories of art, which are (1) additive and (2) subtractive.

Arts such as drawing and painting are additive. The artist starts with a blank piece of paper and decides to add to that paper what only will appear in the final result. His creative process is one of deciding what to include in his piece of art.

Photography is subtractive. The photographer starts with the huge world that is all around him and decides which part of it is going to appear in his photo. His creative process consists of deciding what to exclude from his final result, and whatever he does not exclude will appear in his photo.

If a photographer clones a distracting element out of a photo that is a subtractive action and he’s operating within the photographic paradigm. If that same photographer adds something to the photo, he’s moving out of the photographic paradigm and into that of the traditional arts.

To answer the question, the division between “photography and image-making†” is the division between additive and subtractive art. Roger also asks if we should make such a distinction, and whether such a distinction is futile because the creativity that is built into humans drives some of them to start in one paradigm and end in another.

* Strictly speaking, an image made with a digital camera isn’t a photograph: it’s a reprograph.
† Photography is image-making (not “taking”), so in this context I would prefer to say “digital art”.
